GOLDFIELDS NULLARBOR RANGELANDS BIOSECURITY ASSOCIATION
WILD DOGS
Wild Dogs have the most significant impact on pastoral production and native fauna in the Goldfields Nullarbor Region. They attack small and large stock, causing direct stock losses, and also cause losses through maiming (and consequently commercial value), lambing and mis-mothering (Influence of the predatory effect) and the high cost of control measures.
The GNRBA utilises an integrated approach to wild dog management including landscape scale community coordinated ground baiting programs, supply of appropriate traps, baits and training for landholders and employment of LPMT doggers. This is supported by coordinated and cooperative stakeholder contributions (eg DBCA and shires) and external funding (eg R4R and grants).
Community Ground Baiting Program
The GNRBA will provide prepared baits or if requested, meat, 1080 concentrate, baiting supplies and PPE to participating properties up to two times per year. This will consist of an April and September baiting. On consultation, additional baits are available year round. Bait deliveries can be arranged during April and September baiting. 1080 Wild dog baits are professionally prepared for GNRBA and held in the South Kalgoorlie GNRBA Bait Facility freezers. Teen Ryan holds the S7 license for GNRBA activities.
It is the responsibility of individual land managers to maintain contact with the GNRBA CEO to assist with logistical planning. All authorised users are responsible for ensuring they have a current RP permit (S7 Poisons) in the current owner/manager/responsible person name.

Current Wild Dog Project
Technologically Advanced Wild Dog
Technologically Advanced Wild Dog of the Goldfields and Nullarbor is a project under WA Wild Dog Action Plan R & D (2023 - 2025). The project undertakes research into behavioural systems of wild dogs in the Goldfields Nullarbor region, utilising tools that will deter and manage wild dogs from problem areas that are pathways into pastoralist lands.
GNRBA were able to purchase a drone for monitoring wild dogs in scrub areas, a thermal scope for night shooting, thermal binoculars for distance species identification and cameras, howlers for further study of wild dog activity and numbers on ground. LPMT will continue the work of Tracey Kreplins with these cameras and increased research alongside their current wild dog management work.
