GOLDFIELDS NULLARBOR RANGELANDS BIOSECURITY ASSOCIATION

SUPPORT

GNRBA is here to support you. We do this on different levels, from data collecting, reporting and coordinating to supplying pastoralists with the necessary means to control weeds and feral animals. Find out what we can do for you.

Weed Control

We are pleased to announce that the chemical subsidy is increased from $500 to $1000. This amount is available per year to stations for the use on Declared Weeds i.e., Bathurst Burr.

Did you know we also provide Roundup Ultramax Glyphosate and Silvan spray units at cost price? You can pick them up from GNRBA Facility in Kalgoorlie. You can use the subsidy to collect chemical to that value.

Licensed Pest Management Technician (LPMT)

HIRE A LPMT

Our LPMT’s are available for hire on a subsidised daily rate if you require their services on your patch. Contact Amanda via ceo@gnrba.com.au to find out more.

ORGANISE TRAP TRAINING

At regular intervals GNRBA organises Wild Dog Trap training days. You can also organise a training day at your station if you require it. The training takes about 1,5 days with Neil White (LPMT). Each day can have up to 8 participants to run effectively. Trap Boxes with traps and all trap gear is available for purchase once you completed the training and the online strychnine training.

Baits

GNRBA organises a bait run twice yearly in April and September. It is also possible to collect baits directly from the GNRBA Facility in Kalgoorlie. There are quantities of onion bag baits in the chiller and freezer.

You are required to have a secured locked box or similar, to collect. No enclosed vehicles or unsecure boxes please. Once you have collected head straight home as it is unsafe to have baits on the back of utes in a public place. Ensure you have bait racks or a suitable location for bait delivery. Preferably not homesteads or locations accessed by pet dogs, children, visitors, travellers or similar. The baits are an S7 and as per your permits for S7 need to be handled in an appropriate manner on collection or delivery.

The GNRBA CEO or an LPMT are not always
in Kalgoorlie but can arrange pick up days to suit you with prior warning.

CPE Units

The GNRBA have CPE units and capsules available for distribution. The ejector consists of a stake to hold it in the ground, a piston mechanism and a capsule of 1080 solution that sits inside a bait head that is encased in meat to entice a feral predator, such as a wild dog or fox. When the feral predator pulls on the meat, it triggers the piston, which squirts or ejects the 1080 solution into the animal’s mouth.

These units are being used by the LPMT’s and proving to be a useful tool. It is important to set them correctly and avoid the risk of activating the 1080. You can learn how to set these units correctly from our LPMT. Dare to be Aware and Listen to your LPMT.

Traps

GNRBA have plenty of wild dog traps on hand, which you can purchase at cost price. Traps are only sold to people who have undertaken a trap training day and who have competed their Strychnine/ 1080 Online Training.

Ammunition

Pastoralists who have problems with Large Feral  Herbivores like camels, can claim up to $1000 per year on ammunition.
